What is for tina… and why do we do that?
Hey, to be honest: No idea.
But some background information anyway.
I started missing my old beloved men’s skirt (I think I lost it during the relocation) and couldn’t find something appropriate on the market.
I decided to sew two skirts myself, a simple and a lush one. To do this, I drew a pattern on kraft paper, ordered some fabrics, read about different types of fabrics (after placing the order), and then started sewing ā all very DIY.
The first two skirts survived parties and daily life and friends started wondering where I got them. Instead of giving these prototypes away or sewing more myself (the prototypes are really DIY..!), I decided to ask a friend organization: Social Fabric. They created professional cutting patterns and prototypes for me to try on based on my two models.
Social Fabric is a socially inclusive sewing studio that works with people from immigrant backgrounds and values sustainability, fairness and environmental sustainability. Values that I value too.
The skirts are actually all unique pieces, which are handmade in Zurich – just the way you like it.
So – who is for tina…
For tina… is my hobby project, non-profit and just for fun. (I’m Chris and work as a mathematician and physicist and admire the colorful and lush side of life as a balance to the beautiful mathematical concepts.)
My partner started calling me ‘Martina’ because I always have painted fingernails and a funny sense of kitsch. ‘Martina’ then evolved into ‘Tina,’ which became the starting point for the label for tina… ā a name actually invented by my partner. I did my job with the abbreviation 14a…
So:
Stay colorful & stay open-minded – like tina…
